A Yellow and Coral Wedding at the Roostertail in Detroit, Michigan

For Ebony Rogers (24 and a clinical social worker) and Jeremy Rogers’s (28 and a federal investigator) wedding, everything was centered on their venue and loved ones. “The Roostertail’s view of the beautiful Detroit, Michigan, riverfront inspired us,” Ebony says. “It was breathtaking. The moment was magical. No other place could have been more amazing.” They worked with her friend Christopher Liner and Distinguishing Creations to make sure the space was highlighted with minimal added decor. Just twin arrangements of calla lilies, roses and greenery were placed at the front of their waterfront ceremony, so every guest had an unobstructed view of the Detroit River. At the reception, they had these bright arrangements filled with more roses and greenery on every table. But what really stood out was the wedding cake. They worked with Josef's European Pastry Shop to have a five-tier confection covered with rhinestones, Swiss dots and bold pink fondant flowers. Everyone was treated to a slice before Ebony and Jeremy made spent the rest of their night catching up with guests and dancing to DJ Kris Harris. See every moment, below, as it was captured by Samantha Clarke Photography.

Ebony and Jeremy’s flower girl walked down the aisle in a sweet white dress with a full tulle skirt and bold coral sash fastened into a bow. Her pink and white flower petals were also the main aisle decor.
Sharing this day with their family and friends was the most important part. Keeping this and their waterfront setting in mind, they chose only minimal decor. Twin bulb vases of coral or orange sand accented the altar before their unity ceremony.
“The Roostertail captured the natural beauty of Detroit’s riverfront and allowed our guests to enjoy the warm summer breeze,” Ebony says. “The breathtaking view of the water painted a stunning backdrop for our day.” Ebony and Jeremy used two arrangements of white calla lilies and yellow roses on either side of the metal arbor to highlight their picturesque venue. Each guest took in the view from rows of black metal chairs.
They picked up on the natural hues of the Detroit, Michigan, waterfront, and decorated the metal arbor with twin arrangements. Yellow and peach roses, white calla lilies, white orchids, greenery, curly willow, pink delphiniums and white hydrangeas topped these modern clear stands on both sides of the accent.
Jeremy and his groomsmen wore these matching heather gray suits, brown dress shoes and bright coral ties that matched the bridesmaid dresses. Wanting to stand out a bit, Jeremy paired his look with a paisley tie.
“My friend, big brother, high school adviser and wedding planner did an amazing job making my dreams a reality from start to finish,” Ebony says. “Christopher Liner and Distinguishing Creations’s staff truly made me a happy bride,” Ebony says. She and Jeremy worked with their planner to fill Roostertail in Detroit, Michigan, with bright, almost-tropical accents. Each tall centerpiece was topped with white, yellow and coral roses as well as greenery, willow tips and chrysanthemums.
Their friends and family members took home a refreshing keepsake: pocket-sized mints. Each one was personalized with their names and wedding date on the yellow label.
Ebony and Jeremy wanted a little variety, so they chose two centerpiece styles. For the low arrangements, yellow and peach roses, pink delphiniums and tons of greenery were placed in these silver pedestal vases. A circular mirror accent was also set below them.
Their wedding cake from Josef's European Pastry Shop was classic on the inside with chocolate and vanilla marble cake. Its decoration, however, was completely different. Every ivory tier was decorated with either Swiss dots, a rhinestone trim, large pink fondant flowers or all three.
