An Art Deco, Formal Wedding at Oviatt Penthouse in Los Angeles, California
The historic design and feel of Oviatt Penthouse in Los Angeles, California, inspired this formal wedding with an art deco style, and also reminded Nathan Baynard (35 and a marketing manager) and Robert Marra (49 and a theater director) of the musical where they met each other as performers and that ultimately led them to fall in love. "It dawned on us that the 'Chorus Line' show we met doing has a very art deco feel in the big finale, and it was one of those meant-to-be moments," Robert says. The black, white and silver palette helped shape the formal look of the day, coloring everything from the invitations done in Night Club font to the three-tier black-and-white sunburst wedding cake. On the rooftop, chairs tied with silver ribbons led to the fountain where Nathan and Robert had their ceremony, surrounded by breathtaking views of downtown Los Angeles that (Once Like a Spark) Photography captured on camera. The space was transformed for the reception with dining tables covered in silver linens, illuminated by twinkling lights and candles as day turned into night. We especially loved when Nathan and Robert broke out into a choreographed for their first dance, surprising all their family and friends and putting their performing skills to work. "Do your wedding your way," Robert says. "I'm a firm believer of that."
