An Art Nouveau-Inspired Garden Wedding at Avalon Hotel Palm Springs in Palm Springs, California

Jodi Lin Wiener (38 and a fashion publicist/brand strategist) met Guy Bracken Gresham (37 and a banker) at a quiet wine bar the day after Christmas in New York City. They agreed to grab dinner together once it started getting late and realized their natural connection early on in their relationship. The couple took a trip to Guy’s home country of New Zealand and on the last night visited Te Whau Vineyard on Waiheke Island. As they watched the sunset from the top of the rolling hills, Guy proposed with an old European cut diamond that was set in an engraved band. Since Jodi’s family was from the East Coast and Guy’s was from New Zealand, they found a middle location in Palm Springs, California. Avalon Hotel Palm Springs, formerly known as Viceroy Palm Springs, had the ideal outdoor venue space for their classic garden wedding inspired by art nouveau, a natural art style. The celebration started with a twilight cocktail hour, where guests listened to jazz and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres paired with drinks. After the tented ceremony, attendees were moved to the courtyard for their seated dinner reception. Black chandeliers hung over the white family-style dining tables, decorated with mercury glass candelabras holding white pillar candles. Packaged mint favors with labels that read “Mint to be” were placed at every seat, giving friends and family members one more memory to take home from the couple's celebration of love.
