Even before Whitney (27 and in accounting) and Aaron (37 and a firefighter/paramedic) got engaged during a weekend in Charleston, they had already talked about getting married at a friend's North Carolina mountainside home. "We both love the mountains, and it was a gorgeous location," says Whitney. "As soon as we decided to have our wedding in October, I knew I wanted fall colors." To go along with their rustic theme, the couple decorated with DIY burlap and lace decor and a red, orange and taupe color palette. Deep red silk chrysanthemums were arranged in lace-wrapped mason jars and placed on wood slabs for shabby-chic centerpieces. The couple told guests in advance to bring a change of clothes for the bonfire following the reception. "Since we had a wedding location that didn't require we leave at a certain time, it was the perfect chance to continue spending time with the people we love and celebrate in a fun environment!" says Whitney.

Whitney's only requirement for her bridesmaid dress style was that it be long and something everyone felt comfortable in. "All of my bridesmaids came dress shopping and we had no trouble agreeing on the latte gown."

Whitney knew before she stepped foot into a bridal store that she wanted a lace dress. "As soon as I tried the off-shoulder look, I knew it was right!"
