An Outdoor Jewel-Tone Wedding at Haiku Mill in Hawaii

Morgan Smith and Nic Frazer traveled to Hawaii for a rustic, eclectic destination wedding at Haiku Mill. “The old-world European feel of the venue, combined with my small town upbringing, inspired the inclusion of rustic touches,” Morgan says. Flowers in shades of pink, purple and red popped against Haiku Mill’s natural greenery, and they also made up Morgan’s bridal bouquet. At the ceremony, strings of flower petals and bulbs hung from the glass ceiling of the venue, providing a romantic look. The ceremony space was later transformed for the reception, which featured more hanging flowers, colorful centerpieces and mixed metal details. “The flower pots, candlestick bases, table runners, chairs and plates were all gold or had accents of gold,” Morgan says. “Wherever dark and bold colors were used, we also added accents of white or light colors to brighten up the wedding and keep with a jewel-tone theme that was appropriate for an outdoor Hawaiian setting.” Guests sat at three long wood tables, where they enjoyed Hawaiian-inspired fare and a colorful wedding cake covered in vibrant flowers.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: “The most-anticipated moment of our wedding day was us being able to see each other for the first time during the ceremony,” Morgan says. “We had not seen each other since the rehearsal dinner the night before, and chose not to do a first look to maintain the surprise.”
