An Elegant Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Hinsdale, Illinois

Ornate chandeliers and a muted blush and cream palette lent an element of elegance to Kelly Hellwig (23 and works in public relations) and Troy Volkel's (27 and works in real estate) alfresco affair. Kelly’s mother sourced all the paper goods from her stationery store. The couple tied the knot in a tree-lined ceremony at Kelly's grandparents’ home—a longtime dream turned reality for the bride. “I’ve always loved how beautiful the grounds are,” she says of the verdant space, which was transformed using mirrored accents and massive arrangements of all-white blooms. Kelly’s silk satin, chiffon gown perfectly complemented Troy’s custom navy tuxedo. In keeping with the nature-inspired aesthetic, the duo brought the outdoors in by wrapping tent poles with lush greenery and twinkling lights. “I was brought to tears when I saw the reception tent,” Kelly says. As an indulgent nod to the bride’s family-owned business, cinnamon-sugar doughnut holes were paired with mini milk cartons for favors. “My grandfather started the Dean’s Dairy company, so chugs of chocolate and regular milk felt like an appropriate party favor,” Kelly says of the ultra-personal detail.
