An Elegant Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Hanover, New Hampshire

Rebecca Lewis (30 and works in advertising) and Tim Hade’s (32 and works in energy sales) story isn’t exactly what you would call traditional. The pair met at a bar in New York City around Halloween, striking up a conversation since they were both dressed as Batman’s sidekick, Robin. But oddly enough, Hurricane Sandy was the force that truly brought them together, the inclement weather giving them the time to talk and get to know each other. After two years of dating, Tim popped the question on a weekend trip to the Catskills. The couple took a more traditional route when it came to their early-summer nuptials, hosting the whole affair in Rebecca’s home state of New Hampshire. A close family friend opened their home to the couple and their guests, the waterfront location and natural setting offering a beautiful backdrop. Drawing inspiration from the home’s surroundings, the couple chose a palette rich in soft earth tones, pastels and classic shades of white and ivory. “We wanted to stay true to the natural beauty and chose elements and colors that would fit organically with the setting,” Rebecca says. The entire event was held outdoors, allowing Rebecca, Tim and their guests to take advantage of the beautiful weather and breathtaking views. Understated decor, like burlap table runners, neutral linens, hand-painted menus and Valley Flower Company’s arrangements of classic white blooms brought the couple’s vision to life. Elements like the groomsmen’s personalized Nike high-tops, a festive kids' table and music performed by close family friends added to the day's sentimental feel. A tip from Rebecca: “Set a budget, keep it simple and enjoy every moment—it goes by fast.”
