Casey Barger (25 and a public relations/marketing account manager) briefly met Clay Douglas (26 and an attorney) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before leaving to study abroad in London. They remained friends and officially started dating the summer before their senior year. A few years later, Clay proposed during a trip to Deep Creek Lake over Fourth of July weekend. "Clay wrote me a poem on parchment, put it in a bottle and hid the bottle at the lake’s edge," says Casey. "He invited me down to the dock to play with our dog, Kaela, but the bottle had washed away! Improvising, Clay walked me out onto the dock where he popped the question." Over the next fourteen months, the couple worked to plan their elegant-meets-rustic affair at Fearrington Village in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Casey and Clay opted to get married at the Christ United Methodist Church before their barn celebration with a neutral blush, ivory and pale green color palette. "Neither of us have a favorite color and prefer a clean, natural look," says Casey. "Even though our reception was in a barn, we still wanted more of a classic feel for our wedding!"

"My bouquet and all the flowers at the reception were very natural—all whites, creams and lots of mint greenery," says Casey. "I really wanted peonies, but since they weren't in season, we used a variety of similar flowers instead."
"My dress was very soft and whimsical, almost ethereal, with lots of tulle and a beautiful organic layering at the bottom," says Casey. "The long train was my favorite part of my wedding day ensemble— it looked so beautiful from behind!"

"Our band, The Dickens, was amazing and got the party rocking immediately following the dinner," says Casey. "Everyone worked up quite a sweat on the dance floor, so we served late night food—French fries and ice cream sandwiches— later into the night."
