An Elegant, Classic Seaside Wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California
Suzanne Ritter (31 and a naval officer) and Chris Crouch (33 and an oil and gas executive) were both attending the University of California, San Diego when they first met. After many post-class happy hours, Suzanne and Chris realized their feelings for each other and began to date. After graduation, Suzanne became a Naval Officer and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Chris went to visit Suzanne often, and on one specific trip brought an engagement ring with him. The couple hiked up Mount Fuji one morning, enjoying the trail that they had to themselves for most of the journey. Once they reached the snowcapped top, Chris got down on one knee and proposed. Suzanne and Chris had their wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum in San Diego, California, the city where the couple fell in love. Suzanne and Christopher achieved the simple, elegant wedding celebration they had envisioned through a color palette of pinks, ivory and gold – from the colorful flower bouquet to the bridesmaids’ dresses and the simple table numbers on dining tables. To reflect their travels to Asia while they were long distance, Vietnamese silk lanterns decorated the ceiling and traditional Japanese scroll dolls detailed the guest book scroll. The cake was inspired by the wedding dress, with horizontal buttercream frosting resembling the bustle of the dress and garden roses reflecting the laced pattern.
