An Elegant Country Club Wedding at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois

Anne Carter (32 and a manager) and Ryan Aprill (32 and a lawyer) met at a coffee shop in the lobby of the building where they both worked. Anne, too shy to approach the “tall, dark and handsome” guy, confessed her crush to the barista, who played matchmaker. Ryan was more than interested in getting to know the petite, pretty brunette, so he got Anne’s name from the barista and looked her up on LinkedIn. Seven months after their first date, after going to a Christmas tree farm and selecting and cutting their first Christmas tree as a couple—then decorating the tree that night—Ryan proposed by hanging a 3-carat emerald-cut diamond ring on a branch. His vision was to start a family tradition, “and every Christmas go to the same tree farm and tell our kids the story of how we got engaged,” Anne says. They were married nine months later during a traditional Catholic ceremony at Holy Name Cathedral, the couple's congregation and “one of the most magnificent places I have ever seen,” Anne says. The reception venue—the private Olympia Fields Country Club—combined one of Ryan's favorite hobbies (golf) within a beautiful country club setting, with white, silver and a hint of blush for romantic accents. Fun elements included a gelato bar, a photo booth and a lively orchestra. “We wanted a wedding to reflect who we are as a couple,” Anne says. “We appreciate elegance. We wanted to host an event that was classic and timeless. We tried to stay away from trends and kept traditions that were meaningful to us and our families.” —Chrissy Sorenson
