An Elegant Downtown Wedding at The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel in Charleston, North Carolina
It wasn't hard for Jaclyn Roether (28 and a recruiting manager) to spot Matthew Dlugolecki (31 and a business consultant) when he walked into the bar, considering he's 6'5. After she "accidentally" bumped into him, the pair hit it off and dated until Matthew popped the question by recording a video of him and Jaclyn's friends singing "Going to the Chapel." When the pair began planning their southern nuptials in Charleston, they knew it would basically be a destination wedding for everyone else. It was important to them to host a downtown celebration where guests could experience the city's history and charm. After exchanging vows during a traditional ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church, guests were invited to celebrate during an elegant reception at the Mills House. "The Mills House had a gorgeous courtyard and the weather was perfect so a lot of guests enjoyed the outdoor area not just for cocktail hour but the whole reception!" says Jaclyn. In order to enhance their elegant-meets-shabby chic decor, the couple topped lace linens with mason jars filled with mixed clusters of vibrant blooms. A variety of flowers ranging from peonies to anemones popped against the white tablescapes and mercury glass votives added a warm glow. Guests were treated to a variety of different cake options (displayed on crystal-embellished gold stands) and cupcakes as well as mini milkshakes as a late-night snack.
