An Elegant, Garden-inspired Wedding at Toledo Country Club in Toledo, Ohio

Zara-Yasmine Choudhry (26 and works in health care) comes from a line of expert gardeners, so for her marriage to Russell Baird (27 and a chemical engineer), she put flowers front and center. The couple wed on the banks of the Maumee River under an arch of roses, protea, lisianthus, astilbe and silver dollar eucalyptus. As a nod to her great-grandmother's amazing rose garden, Zara-Yasmine placed roses in bouquets and centerpieces, and crafted paper blooms for the photo booth. “I also wanted to incorporate lavender because my mom has always grown it in her garden,” Zara-Yasmine says. She asked guests to toss lavender buds during the recessional and tucked sprigs from her mom's crop into napkins. Shades of blush appeared throughout the celebration, and the glassed-in dining room at Toledo Country Club helped to further set the mood: “It felt like a huge white garden gazebo,” Zara-Yasmine says. A floral tablecloth and a garland of roses, eucalyptus and olive leaf marked the sweetheart table. Roses also garnished the lemon-berry, Key lime and chocolate-raspberry cake.
