An Elegant Indoor Wedding at Cafe Brauer in Chicago, Illinois

While Katherine Harrington (31 and a scientist) and Eric Schullhaus (29 and a sports analyst) are both transplants to Chicago, Illinois, they wanted to wed in the place where they met, fell in love and now call home. The couple were eager to showcase their beautiful city for out-of-town guests without sacrificing an intimate setting, making the nearby Cafe Brauer an easy choice. Boasting early-1900s charm, scenic outdoor wildlife and panoramic views of the downtown skyline, the historic building and surrounding property were  the perfect backdrop to their cozy and elegant affair. With a vision of classic romance, Katherine and Eric started with a neutral framework (gray, ivory and mahogany) and incorporated a striking palette of deep peacock green, pops of pink and gold accents. The same combination of calm and bold hues was infused into the floral arrangements, which featured hydrangeas, garden roses, spray roses, ranunculus, dahlias and a variety of greens. Flooded with natural light via the skylit ceiling and stained-glass windows, the Great Hall's stunning Prairie School architecture was infused with lush greenery, bright blooms and a wooden arch for the dreamy indoor ceremony. The space was then effortlessly transformed for the evening reception, complete with dramatic centerpieces, soft candlelight and romantic details. —Samantha Meux
