An Elegant, Modern Wedding at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota

When Katherin Yotter (27 and a business analyst) experienced some car trouble in 2012, a friend offered to introduce her to her "car guy." "I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I got an attractive, kindhearted goofball who swept me off my feet," she says. When it came time to marry this car guy, Daniel Kotula (27 and a munitions systems crew member for the Air Force), they settled on Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a modern, window-filled space that provided a blank canvas for their vision. "My design inspiration was Kate Spade meets Audrey Hepburn: classy, unique and fun, with a hint of sparkle," Katherin says. Looking for a palette that was bright yet dramatic enough to do their modern museum venue justice, they landed on blue with gold accents. Since their palette was fairly simple, they made sure their florals really popped, outfitting the day in fresh-picked bunches of wildflowers. After extensive research, Katherin fell in love with her tiered tulle mermaid-style Hayley Paige dress. "It had just the right balance of princess and couture," she says. —Meghan Overdeep
