An Elegant, Romantic Wedding at the Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Meghan Siller (27 and a healthcare) and Brandon Smith (29 and vice president in finance) met in New York City at a wine bar in the neighborhood where they both lived. While talking over a glass of wine, they found out they had a lot in common, including living in the same apartment building — talk about a small world. For their wedding, the couple headed to the Graylyn Estate in Brandon's hometown of Winston-Salem, NC. "Brandon's dad was ill and it was important to us that as much of his family be able to attend the wedding as possible," says Meghan of the location. Before heading to the grand estate for a fun-filled night of dinner and dancing under the stars, the couple exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony at Home Moravian Church in Old Salem, where generations of Brandon's family had been married. When it came to choosing the decor, Meghan and Brandon opted for a soft, romantic vibe, with a muted color palette of dusty shale, slate grey, blush and cream with pops of lavender and lush full blooms displayed alongside ivory candles. "Our venue was so beautiful architecturally that we wanted to make sure the decor and flowers didn't take away from the venue itself," says Meghan. Fun, personal touches included ice sculptures that were used by the bar tenders to serve drinks, a make-your-own sundae bar in lieu of traditional wedding cake, a live band and a delicious menu with Southern flair.
