An Elegant Spring Wedding at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas

When Krystal Murphy (31 and an OB/GYN physician) moved to Austin, Texas to complete the clinical portion of her medical school training, she met Ryan Murphy (29 and in Land Tech) through mutual friends. It wasn’t long before the pair realized they had a connection and began dating. During Krystal’s residency training, Ryan took her on a scenic drive through Westlake, Texas that led to a helipad. The couple took a helicopter ride to a ranch outside of Austin where they were dropped off at a stunning overlook, aptly named “Proposal Point.” (Ryan was so nervous, he walked straight back into the exhaust of the helicopter!) When Ryan popped the question and Krystal excitedly answered yes, she spotted a truckload of people headed their way—both of their families had made the trip out to celebrate their engagement! The wedding ceremony was at Omni Barton Creek Resort in the Pavilion. “The Pavilion was the perfect site with beautiful views overlooking the golf course and the hill country,” says Krystal. “We also liked the idea of having all the events in one location so we could maximize our time spent with family and friends.” The cocktail hour was held in the foyer just outside the reception ballroom and filled with bright pops of fuchsia, lime green, purple, sorbet orange and touches of silver for a classy spring look. The bride and her father surprised their guests with a dance to “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder, and pulled it off without a hitch. As Krystal and Ryan exited the reception, Krystal’s parents sent them off with one last surprise: a horse-drawn carriage to lead them around Barton Creek.
