An Elegant Summer Wedding at Meadow Ridge Events in Windsor, Ohio

Maggie Takacs (23 and a content manager) and Kevin Knight (24 and a senior actuarial analyst) planned an elegant summer soiree at Meadow Ridge Events in Windsor, Ohio, for their late July nuptials. The day kicked off with a traditional Catholic mass and ceremony at St. Helen Church, in which the couple lit candles for loved ones who had passed.

After saying “I do,” the pair whisked guests off to Meadow Ridge Events for dinner and dancing. The picturesque landscape and stunning Maple Pavilion with its soaring cathedral ceiling and rustic chandeliers provided the ultimate backdrop for the evening and spoke to Maggie and Kevin’s sense of style. “We chose the venue because it is gorgeous and it gave an air of humility to an otherwise extravagant wedding,” says Maggie. “I’m the oldest girl and the first cousin to be married in a large Italian family. The venue was a good way to help tone things down.” The bride-to-be, her mother and close friends made many of the details, like the menu and place cards, gold wine bottle centerpieces and beaded ribbon napkin rings, themselves and hunted down unique accents like milk glass vases and pedestals in thrift shops and on Amazon.com.

The tables were laid with crisp white linens draped in fresh floral garlands and varied vases dripping in peach, ivory and playful pink roses, lending a romantic, whimsical air to the decor. Gilded chargers brought note of glamour and opulence, while a Limoncello toast and a spread of homemade Italian cookies spoke to Maggie’s Italian roots.

A tip for the taking from Maggie: “It's your day first, but it's also a huge day for your family. Let people help. Remember that sometimes letting them help will actually be more work for you, but it's worth it. And finally, focus on what the day is actually about. For us, it was our relationship, our faith, and our family.”
