An Elegant Vintage Glam Wedding at The Sutherland in Wake Forest, North Carolina
Tiffany Ashley (32 and blogger and owner of Delightfully Chic) and Scott Gaither (30 and a detective) pulled off an elegant affair with subtle notes of glam 1920s flair for their early August wedding. The pair brought their vision to life with a color palette of sophisticated ivory, white and gold hues, plus plenty of art deco details that made guests feel as though they had been transported from the airy Pavilion at The Sutherland in Wake Forest, NC to Gatsby’s mansion on West Egg.
Ornate crystal chandeliers and panels of ethereal fabric lent an air of opulence to the venue’s dramatic wood-paneled ceilings, while gold-rimmed dinnerware and brass cutlery brought a note of regality to each tabletop. Old world charm was evident in elements like art deco table numbers and vintage suitcases used to display the ceremony programs. The couple’s favorite quotes from The Great Gatsby were sprinkled throughout, with “He loved her and that was the beginning of everything,” proving to be incredibly illustrative of the day’s sentiment.
From clouds of baby’s breath displayed atop tall glass trumpet vases to clusters of lush ivory hydrangeas in hurricane vessels, each table boasted a unique arrangement of white blooms, delivering an element of drama and texture to the room. Pink garden roses were incorporated into the low centerpieces for a subtle pop of color among the sea of dreamy white hues.
“I am all about the little details and from the lace bellyband that decorated the invitations to the fun ceremony signage, wine cork table card holders and confetti and streamer exit, I think we nailed it!” says Tiffany. “It was a timeless ceremony filled with 1920s vibes and lots of love!”
A tip for the taking from Tiffany: “Soak it all in. Take moments throughout your engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner and the wedding itself to take it all in. Soak in the happiness and love that surrounds you.”
