An Elegant Wedding at NYIT de Seversky Mansion in Glen Head, New York
Kara McLarney (29 and a research manager) and Peter Franco's (31 and an oral surgeon) wedding style was one of grandeur. "We wanted a traditional wedding, but we also wanted an event that was unique and extraordinary," Kara says, and they certainly achieved just that. For starters, their spring wedding took place at New York Institute of Technology's de Seversky Mansion, a grand building with traditional details. Their color palette of blush, ivory, silver and gray highlighted its soft elegance. These colors came through in the reception decor. "My vision for the reception was white and cream florals with soft pink and peach accents, mercury-glass and candlelight galore," Kara says. The reception tables featured tall silver vases with dome-shaped flower arrangements of ivory hydrangeas and blush roses, and the candelabras and chandelier in the ballroom added a romantic glow to the celebration. The wedding party's look also reflected the elegant aesthetic that Kara and Peter were going for. Peter and his groomsmen wore formal black tuxedos with bow ties and ranunculus boutonnieres, while Kara's bridesmaids wore floor-length, gray tulle dresses. Kara wore a beautiful mermaid-style lace gown. To add a personal touch to the decor, Kara and Peter had a display titled "Our Story," which had pictures from their childhood and their relationship until their engagement. In addition to the white wedding cake for dessert, Kara surprised Peter with a 'Game of Thrones'-themed groom's cake!
