A Rustic, Outdoor Wedding At The Newland Barn in Huntington Beach, California

Joberde Metellus (39 and a professional veteran's claims representative) and Jenna Metellus (30 and a professional therapist) met through mutual friends and bonded over their passion for social work and a shared interest in community development and youth outreach. Joberde proposed to Jenna at a French restaurant in Hollywood, Florida with a princess-cut diamond ring. He brought his iPad with him to the restaurant and showed Jenna a video of the ring being made and then got down on one knee to propose. The couple chose to have their wedding and reception at The Newland Barn in Huntington Beach, California because of its sprawling open space and proximity to the beach. They also wanted an outdoor wedding where their guests could mingle freely. "The theme was vintage and we used low cost ideas that added elegance but kept the look rustic," Jenna says. They took a cost-effective, DIY approach to their wedding decor and opted for centerpieces with pink roses and white hydrangeas held in wooden holders with custom monogrammed touches. Burlap table runners lined the round tables adding to the rustic look. In keeping with the vintage theme, Jenna wore a lace column gown with sheer cap sleeves and an open back. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched coral dresses in the silhouette of their choosing with chunky turquoise necklaces. The groomsmen wore classic dark gray tuxedos with bright coral ties and matching pocket squares to complement the bridal party's vibrant dresses. Joberde wore a coral tie with gray stripes to stand out from his groomsmen.Their first dance was to a song performed by their close friend, while their guests and wedding party blew bubbles into the air. "It was a very special moment for us," Jenna says.
