An Elegant Winter Barn Wedding at Laytn's Land-n Yulee, Florida

Lindsey Gross (24 and a physician assistant student) met Jake Jones (26 and a construction project manager) during her first week of college at Georgia Southern University. From that moment on, the pair were inseparable and Jake proposed four years later. "I thought we were on a double date to a nice restaurant with our best friends, but little did I know that Jake had a night of surprises waiting for me," says Lindsey. "We got to the restaurant and went to wait for our table on their patio that overlooked the Chatahoochee River—I turned around to look for our friends who were lagging behind us and turned back to see Jake down on one knee!" They spent the next two years planning a shabby-chic winter affair with a green, gray and navy color palette. Even though the couple's church ceremony was at Kingsland First Baptist Church in Georgia, their reception followed at Laytn's Land-n Yulee, Florida. "We live right on the Georgia/Florida border so the two locations were only about ten minutes apart." says Lindsey. Green and white arrangements of green dianthus, dusty miller, garden roses peonies and hypericum berries decorated the barn celebration and the bride's fur shawl complemented the seasonal feel. "We knew there was a chance that it would be cold since we were getting married in January, so we planned accordingly," says Lindsey. "We had a bonfire and had River Street Sweets making fresh pecan pralines served hot."

"I wanted my bridesmaids to feel comfortable in and like what they wore, so I let them choose their dresses," says Lindsey. "I picked the designer, color, length and fabric but let them decide on which style."
Lindsey didn't want an ultra-feminine dress and instead found a sleek Alfred Angelo strapless gown.

The couple worked to incorporate pops of green throughout their church and barn reception.
For her winter wedding, Lindsey hoped to achieve a shabby-chic look with a barn venue and succulent arrangements.
