An Enchanted Elegant Wedding at Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC

When it came time for Caroline Cubbison (24 and a medical student) and Teodoro Armenteros (36 and an engineer) to plan their wedding, they looked well past the shores of their Dominican Republic home – 1,500 miles in fact. hey settled on Washington, DC, because it's where Caroline's father lives and it was an easy destination for their globe-trotting guests as well. Bonus: It also meant they could avoid the traditional Dominican wedding of 600-plus guests! With the help of a US-based planner and a muted palette of gray, cream and blush, the couple transformed their grand indoor venue into an enchanted garden for their intimate evening. "We wanted the gallery to feel like an overgrown abandoned mansion that was recently discovered," Caroline says.

The couple's classic invites were hand-calligraphed on heavy cream-colored card stock with a custom monogram.

Caroline's four bridesmaids looked elegant in feminine, blush, floor-length gowns with the neckline of their choice.
"I wanted an organic, timeless bouquet that was reminiscent of yesteryear," Caroline says. She carried a dreamy cascade of jasmine vine, eucalyptus, roses and dusty miller.
Classic Bridal Updo with Drop Earrings
The flower girl custom dresses were inspired by the iconic designs of the late Oscar de la Renta (another Dominican) and were handmade in the Dominican Republic by the couple's tailor.
"We felt strong ties to St. Alban's," Caroline explains. "One of the priests was Dominican and had even worked at our church in Santo Domingo!" Simple floral arrangements dotted the aisle and let the church's decor shine.
It doesn't get much more romantic than a dramatic cathedral-length veil. Caroline wore this Anna Maier design from the Gabriella New York Bridal Salon in New York City.

Guests chose between two signature drinks: tequila sparklers (tequila, grapefruit soda and pineapple juice) and lemon Bellinis.
It took the catering company two tries to nail Caroline's aunt's wedding cake recipe. But in the end, the five-tier all-white confection tasted just like home. Delicate sugar flowers and fondant beading finished the look.
