An Enchanting, Urban Wedding at Front & Palmer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Julianne Means (26 and a grant writer) and Spencer Atkinson (25 and a dentist) met through a mutual friend in college. They quickly bonded over their shared passion for God and the arts. They maintained a long-distance relationship for a few months until Julianne decided to move to Philadelphia to be closer to Spencer. Spencer had wanted to wait for their one year anniversary to propose, but on a wintry Philadelphia morning, he decided it was the right time and proposed to Julianne in the snow. Their engagement was a brief, three months, but what Julianne and Spencer were able to achieve in that short time is phenomenal. The couple wanted to fuse Spencer’s preference for the modern and urban with Julianne’s soft, romantic style. For their ceremony and reception venue, they chose Front & Palmer, a converted pickle barrel factory with wood floors, high ceilings, and industrial beams. Enlisting the help of the good people at Leaves of Grass Floral Design, the couple created an indoor wedding that looked like an enchanted garden. The pillars at the venue were transformed into flowering cherry blossom trees, and lanterns and candles were hung from their branches. Complimentary arrangements was kept simple, with an array of different votive candles adorned with flowering vines, small ferns and moss. Bouquets included pastel flowers like anemones, hellebores, andromedas, peonies, ranunculuses, sweet peas and dusty miller. The wedding party dressed in charcoal gray, which was beautifully illuminated against the pink decor. Julianne and Spencer’s dream of a wedding perfectly demonstrated the magic that can be created when an amazing florist meets a fantastic venue.
