An English Garden meets Southern Grace-Inspired Wedding at Timber Creek Camp in Pulaski, Mississippi

Haley Blissett (25 and a culinary arts instructor) was studying abroad in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, where she and Matt Wales (25 and a technology professional) met at a church service. They hit it off right away and soon found themselves planning to see more of each other. Eventually Matt asked Haley out on an official first date to Holy Island in Lindisfarne, Northumberland, which has a lovely priory and castle. After seven months of planning, Matt waited for a quiet moment with clear skies and proposed to Haley at Giant’s Causeway in Belfast, Northern Ireland with an antique ring. They were married at Timber Creek Camp in Pulaski, Mississippi in front of the lake at sunset, followed by a cocktail hour and reception in the barn; the intimate venue allowed for out-of-town guests, such as Matt’s family who traveled from England, to stay in cabins on the grounds to facilitate transportation and feel close to the wedding events. Haley and Matt’s celebration blended English garden charm with Southern grace with vintage elements from both the United States and England. Their day was deeply personal, from being able to ride to the wedding location in Haley’s grandfather’s restored vintage car to Matt writing the song for his bride’s walk down the aisle. “It was fun and exciting with lots of tears and laughter,” says Haley.
