An Ethereal Garden-Inspired Wedding at The 1909 in Topanga, California
A remote amphitheater among towering oak trees set the stage for Jueun and Jonathan's rustic garden party, where DIY wood accents and homemade favors, like potted succulents, reigned supreme. Jueun rented her ceremony dress and veil for the day. But for her second look—a vibrant pink hanbok—Jueun went the custom route. “It’s Korean tradition for mothers of the bride and groom to wear them,” she says. “And it was important to me that I tie bits of my culture into our wedding.”
As for décor, black-and-white anemones popped against pink ranunculus and sweet peas. “I love the process of planning and creating,” Jueun says of crafting marble place cards and wood table numbers by hand. Invitations featured the bride’s own calligraphy and were finished with custom wax seals. “I’m not an expert by any means, but it meant a lot to include words I wrote myself,” Jueun says.
