An Animal-Filled Art Deco Wedding at a Private Residence in Kansas City, Missouri
Sarah Mingle (30 and a manager at a health care insurance company) and Jason Lindshield (30 and a global property underwriting specialist) added a wild twist to their art deco wedding—wild animal, that is. Inspired by a little gold animal and their love for the outdoors, safari creatures filled the tented reception in the form of table names, cocktail garnish and centerpieces. Our favorite detail was the one-of-a-kind escort board, which elaborately illustrated the entire reception tent and was hand-drawn by Sarah’s sister in graphite! The glamorous soiree took place in a clear tent in Sarah’s parents’ backyard in Kansas City, Missouri. Since her parents regularly tend the one-acre space, it was overflowing with peonies, lilies and lilacs surrounding towering trees. Wedding planner Jessica Corbett from Hitched Planning and Floral worked with Ashley from Good Earth Floral and Design to create Sarah and Jason’s vision of a swanky art-deco-era ballroom being dropped into the middle of a refined secret garden. “Flowers have always been something I've been passionate about,” Sarah says. “Ashley, our florist, ended up transforming the space, making it lush and romantic.” One of our favorite details, though, was the personal wedding band including Sarah’s uncles and father. “Both Jason and I grew up in musically talented families,” Sarah says. “During family holidays my father and uncles would get their guitars, fiddles and harmonicas out and play music for a few hours. Carrying on this special tradition, we asked them to play a set of bluegrass music toward the end of the night. Guests even joined in by grabbing maracas and tambourines.” See all our favorite details, beautifully captured by Briana Gray from the Grays Photography, below.
