An Industrial-Elegant Wedding at Firehouse Chicago in Illinois
With a rustic-elegant theme in mind, Erica Corso (35 and a camera operator) and Megan O’Hare (34 and a chief of staff) looked to their Edgewater firehouse venue for design inspiration. “We wanted to stay true to the space,” Megan says of decorating the reception with marsala and navy-blue accents that popped against the white tiled walls. A Lucite seating chart was displayed against a wall of ivy in the courtyard. Garlands of eucalyptus lined linenless farm tables made of reclaimed wood, and seasonal arrangements featured a mix of king protea, ranunculus, dahlias and astilbe. “The cake-cutting tradition isn’t our style, so we served adult Pop Tarts instead,” Megan says of dishing out nostalgic blueberry, apple and Nutella-flavored treats. The couple swayed to “My Girl” for their first dance—a song that took on a dual meaning once they asked their dads to join them. Erica wore an ivory wool suit, while Megan chose a lace gown.
