An Intimate, Natural Wedding at Boal Mansion in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania
As a professional wedding planner, Megan Glenn (25) has seen her fair share of venues. “I wanted to get married somewhere I hadn’t planned a client’s wedding before so the space felt like our own,” she says of sealing the deal with Alex Harding (27 and a landscape contractor) at the picturesque Boal Mansion. The grounds were a perfect option for the pair, with an open field large enough to accommodate a reception tent and a canopy of towering oak trees. A copper arch framed Megan and Alex as they said “I do” in a unity ceremony that included the planting of an oak tree using soil from their childhood homes. “Our ceremony symbolized our family homes and putting down new roots as a couple,” Megan says of the tree, which is now planted in the yard of their new home. Guests deposited their gifts in the bed of a vintage Volkswagen truck before settling in with cucumber gin and tonics on the lawn. Geometric vessels, cheesecloth runners and simple bud vases dressed up wood farm tables. As the evening came to a close, a late-night cart brimming with hot Italian sausage was brought in before the newlyweds and their guests walked down the street to a local bar.
