An Intimate, Romantic Wedding at Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury in New Jersey
Dentists Katelyn Domingues (27) and Miles Santo (27) designed their day around the famed fairy tale The Secret Garden to evoke an intimate and romantic feel. Greenery was the star at the couple’s venue, where Miles’s parents wed 32 years before. Katelyn took a calligraphy course so that she would be able to hand-address the invitations. The stunning space perfectly complemented the celebration’s neutral color palette, which remained soft and secondary to the natural greens so as not to steal the spotlight. The overgrown-garden look was elevated by subtle brass details and plenty of candlelight. “We wanted it to feel like a beautiful and special place that only a few people knew about,” Katelyn says. The bride wrapped her wild bouquet in hand-torn silk and velvet ribbons and also calligraphed the escort card tiles. “Our guests were the highlight of the day, so we wanted to make sure they knew how important it was that we shared our day with them,” she says. The couple named their tables after memorable locations and tried to match their guests to each. “The best part of the meal was the lamb carving station,” Miles says. “It’s one of our favorites, and we knew we had to have it. Our guests still talk about it.” Sliders, a sushi bar and two ice sculptures that served as ice luges were other standout culinary moments during the reception. A grand sparkler exit closed out the night.
