An Intimate, Tropical Elopement at Kukahiko Estate in Maui, Hawaii

Steph Michal (29 and an internal medicine resident) and Nick Bruns (29 and a general surgery resident) used the surrounding landscape on the island of Maui, Hawaii, to mold their tropical elopement combined with a classic style. They held their intimate wedding at Kukahiko Estate—a small family-owned property with gorgeous surrounding views of the ocean. The day began at the outdoor lawn ceremony, where Steph and Nick stood with a gorgeous backdrop of the island waters behind them. Steph wore a white strapless wedding dress with a layered tulle skirt, while Nick sported a black tuxedo with a black bow tie—staying fairly traditional with Western cultural attire. But after the ceremony (which included a lei exchange), Steph and Nick rocked a tropical look with their Hawaiian flower necklaces for the celebration. An intimate cocktail hour and reception took place on the estate's patio, where Steph, Nick and their four guests sat at a white dining table decorated with candelabras. We loved the adorable cake served at the end of the meal—a two-tier white cake rimmed with gold at the bottom, topped with a bride-and-groom penguin figurine set.
