An Intimate Wedding at Coconut Mallory Resort and Marina in Key West, Florida
This wedding is unlike anything we’ve seen! With decor inspired by Key West, their pet Siberian Husky and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Shelby Proie (29) and Michael Shanley’s (31) celebration could not be filled with more personal flair. Instead of a waterfront ceremony, they started their day with a wedding at sea aboard the Schooner America 2.0 from Classic Harbor Line. Shelby walked up the dock in a bohemian, white lace dress as strips of sheer white fabric flowed behind her as a train. Shelby’s maid of honor was someone that we did not expect - her and Michael’s Siberian Husky, Samba! She was on a white rosette-accented leash during the ceremony and wore a fun pink “maid of honor” sash around her neck. After they said “I do,” Foto By Freas snapped a few photos of Shelby, Michael and their 50 guests as they continued the party with a trolley ride to Coconut Mallory Resort and Marina. White delphiniums, gold coral decorations and starfish-accented votives lined each table to complement Key West’s beaches. A husky dog stuffed animal and Pittsburgh Penguins glassware, for their favorite team, also topped the sweetheart table. One detail stood out against the decor: the wedding cake. The bright green and blue, three-tiered confection was topped with fondant versions of Shelby and Michael in hockey jerseys with Samba. (How Sweet!) All enjoyed a few drinks from a champagne fountain and finished the night by listening to Shelby and Michael’s special guest. “We had our old friend and Key West singer, Acoustic Johnson, play his usual set, which, ironically, is a lot of our favorite songs from Sublime, OAR, Foo Fighters, Bob Marley and general beach vibes,” says Michael.
