An Intimate Wedding at the Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida
Courtney Scarpitti (28, works in journalism) and Jordan Fox (26, a firefighter and paramedic) met in high school but didn’t start dating until years later. He proposed on a surprise limo ride and trip to the Planetarium in Chicago. Jordan went down on one knee as the sun set. Over the next five months, the couple planned an intimate wedding surrounded by 20 guests with a special day in mind. As Jordan is a fan of John F. Kennedy, the date was set for his and Jackie Onassis’ anniversary. “I did not really have a theme for our wedding; however, the overall feel of the wedding style was romantic with earthy, natural elements pulled in," says Courtney. Courtney and Jordan decorated their Catholic church ceremony with candles along the aisle as well as whimsical arrangements of yellow craspedia, yellow roses, hypericum berries, scabiosa pods and eucalyptus. The same arrangement was mirrored in the bride’s bouquet and their reception decor. After their ceremony, Courtney, Jordan and their guests drove in a 1950s vintage fire truck to their intimate reception at the Hawks Cay Resort. “Jordan is a firefighter/paramedic, and one thing I wanted to do for him was have a fire truck take us to and from the church instead of a limo or fancy car. Our dream came true!” says Courtney. With plum, gray and yellow and their color palette, the couple decorated their waterfront patio with a family-style table, purple table runner, yellow napkins, silver chargers, birdcages and floral centerpieces in wooded breakaway vases. The night was filled with music selected by the bride.
