An Intimate, Whimsical Wedding at Camden Harbor Inn in Camden, Maine
Audrey Dacanay (a product developer and designer) and James Knott (a massage therapist) met on a dating website on what just so happened to be the last day of Audrey's free trial. "We exchanged numbers right away just so that I didn't have to become a true member of the dating site to continue communications," she recalls. After two years together James planned a fake scavenger hunt in order to pop the question. The last "clue" led them to Parkman Bandstand in Boston Common. "As I'm searching for a plaque with a date to solve the last clue, all the people in the bandstand started to gather in front of us and started singing. It turns out they were a local a-cappella group (a guilty pleasure of mine) that James hired!" recalls Audrey. "Emotions started to get the best of me, and he popped the question while the a-cappella group supplied the perfect background music. I felt like it was a dream." When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple decided on their favorite getaway—Camden, Maine. To make things really convenient, and to thank their guests for making the journey, Audrey and James took over Camden Harbor Inn for a luxurious three day weekend. Playing off James' last name, Knott, the couple incorporated knot details throughout their intimate, harborside wedding day—from James' boutonniere to the rope tying ceremony. A cool color scheme french blue, gray and a dash of red tied it all together. Pun intended!
