An Organic, Natural Wedding at Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas

Michelle Bouvier (28 and a nurse) and David Myers (33 and a USMC pilot) dated for a month until Michelle moved out of town and David deployed. The couple pursued a long-distance relationship for several years until David proposed on a hot air balloon ride. Michelle and David had a Sunday brunch wedding at Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas. “I fell in love with its old estate and commitment to caring for the environment,” says the bride. The natural color palette started with the dark green bridesmaids dresses and expanded to include peach, blue, ivory and lavender to create an organic theme of vintage romance. The couple included lots of DIY natural decor including a variety of flowers, wooden accents and soy candles to create a rustic atmosphere. The wedding involved the whole family: The bride’s uncle officiated, the bride’s mother designed the invitations and made the reception decor with the bride’s father, Michelle’s brother’s girlfriend played the cello, the couple’s dog carried the rings, and the rest was heirloom or made by the couple. Michelle and David exited to a shower of lavender in pages from a vintage Hawaii guidebook as a nod to their honeymoon destination. In lieu of traditional wedding favors, the couple made a donation to the Polaris Project, a nonprofit that fights human trafficking.
