An Organic Woodsy Wedding at Laughing Waters in Gerton, North Carolina
Amber Smith (32 and a medical assistant) and Jimi Nedoff (39 and a telecom project manager) reconnected on MySpace after meeting as children. The pair spent most of their relationship in the woods camping, hiking or exploring new waterfalls. Jimi proposed once the two hiked to the top of Lover's Leap and asked Amber to marry him after he set up his camera to capture the moment. Their organic wedding at Laughing Waters in Gerton, North Carolina was inspired their love for the outdoors and their hopes to keep things simple, comfortable and fun. "From the beginning we knew we wanted to be in the North Carolina mountains and say our vows surrounded by the lush trees," says Amber. " Laughing Waters is magical place—its soothing sound from the water made everyone feel at ease." The ceremony took place in an apple orchard, which entailed everyone walking through the woods and crossing a creek before arriving at clearing. Friend and family then celebrated at a lodge that creates its own electricity from a hydroelectric dame and was constructed from locally milled timber. Guests were encouraged to fill blue mason jars with their favorite trail mix combinations at the Trail Mix Bar and the improv music circle of guitars around the bonfire.and singing .
