An Outdoor, Autumn Wedding at John Joseph Inn and Elizabeth Restaurant in Groton, New York

Kate Laissle (26 and an education manager) and Joseph Zielinski (26 and an academic counselor) met while attending Ohio State University. They really got to know each other when Joseph worked at one of the front desks and Kate would go in to visit him. It was not until Kate's senior year when they started dating. Three years later, after a romantic dinner together and a walk through Schiller Park in Columbus, OH, Joseph proposed to Kate. They chose to have their wedding at the John Joseph Inn and Elizabeth Restaurant in Groton, New York. "Located on a farm and surrounded by trees," Kate says, "the outdoor ceremony location and the large tent made for an ideal autumn wedding location." Kate and Joseph wanted to tie in the seasonal Autumn colors for their wedding and decided to have a color palette of reds, oranges, yellows and touches of blue. Bouquets were a mix of Kate's favorite flowers, ranunculuses and dahlias, along with garden roses and hydrangeas. They held their reception in a large, outdoor tent with chandeliers and purple accent lighting that created a romantic ambiance as the night went on. Following a Puerto Rican wedding tradition, Kate's grandmother crocheted capias for each guest that featured and Kate and Joseph's names along with their wedding date. "They are used to ensure that each guest is spoken to and welcomed," Kate says.
