An Outdoor Wedding at Dakota Lodge in St. Paul, Minnesota

Bride-to-be Lyndsey Dixon (26 and in sales) met hockey player (and future husband) Ryan Bunger (29 and in sales) while the two were freshmen at Michigan Technological University in northern Houghton. The two went on to date for seven years before Ryan proposed on the beach near Lyndsey's childhood home by placing the diamond on the end of a fishing line. "I reeled the line in and found the ring bouncing along in the sand," she says. "I turned around and Ryan was in place, ready to pop the question." For their outdoor wedding in St. Paul, the couple married under a single, large oak tree in Thompson Park before celebrating with family and friends at the Dakota Lodge. "The lush greenery and nearby pond provided that classic, Minnesota, rustic feel we were looking for," the bride explains. A romantic color palette of navy, soft pink and gold was the inspiration behind most of the DIY decorations created by both the bride and her family. "We used burlap and lace accents and even made all of our wedding invitations using an embossed lace pattern and wax seal," Lyndsey explains. Since Lyndsey and Ryan wanted their guests to experience their favorite treats and eats, the Washington-based couple included beer from a local brewery where they spent many evenings together during college. "We even passed out champagne-flavored Seattle chocolates!" the bride says. "We just wanted to tie in some of our favorite items that we've enjoyed together over the years."
