The couple met through mutual friends at the “Star Trek” movie premiere. The Bride Deborah Heuss, 30 and a labor and delivery nurse at Piedmont Hospital The Groom Christian Mitchell, 34 and a copywriter The Date April 25 “We wanted a casual vintage garden party,” Deborah says. “The invitations had a retro, sci-fi ’60s feel and we chose bright shades of pink, yellow, and orange.”

In keeping with the color scheme, a cluster of orange and pink roses and yellow wax flowers decorated Christian's lapel and worked well with his soft yellow tie.
The couple chose graphic table numbers in poppy colors to complement the bold centerpieces.
It was a sunny, breezy day for their morning ceremony on the lawn. Deborah walked down an aisle of colorful rose petals to an arch decorated in the same flowers.
Retro Table Numbers
Deborah and Christian danced to Somebody by Depeche Mode. The night's playlist included a fun mix of artists like Jackson 5, The Killers, and Postal Service.
Action figures (all from the couple's favorite TV shows, movies and comics like Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Captain America) took over the cake tiers.
Art Table Numbers
The centerpieces were vibrant combinations of hot pink gerbera daisies, orange roses, and yellow wax flowers in simple clear vases.
Christian designed the invitations, incorporating their sci-fi theme with robots and flying saucers.
Deborah's bouquet was a bright mix of orange roses, pink daisies, and yellow wax flowers. The stems were tied with ribbon and rings from her two grandmothers.
The bride's mom crocheted these fabric flowers and attached pins to the back. Then the bride's aunt cut paper leaves and wrote out guests' names and table numbers.
The couple found these graphic table numbers from stock art. The poppy colors complemented their vibrant floral centerpieces.
