An Outdoor Wedding With Rustic Flair at the Inn at Park Winters in Winters, California
Kathline Kim (34 and a clinical researcher) and Andrew Caldwell (31 and an implementation consultant) planned a laid-back early fall affair with a chic rustic vibe for their wedding in Winters, California. “We wanted our guests to feel like they were at a fun evening dinner picnic with friends and family,” says Kathline. With a venue as charming as the Inn at Park Winters, the couple focused on highlighting the setting rather than overshadowing it, drawing on a palette of cheerful pink, yellow, red and white hues to balance out the lush green landscape and details like market lights, glass milk bottles and wildflowers that reflected the venue’s casual elegance.
The day kicked off with not one, but two wedding ceremonies. The pair exchanged vows and rings under the shade of a quaint pecan tree during their Western ceremony, then performed a traditional Korean tea ceremony, complete with han-boks and a ceremonial table bearing figures and foods symbolizing loyalty, wealth, health, fertility, happiness and strength.
After making it official, Kathline and Andrew invited guests to join them for an evening of al fresco dining and dancing under the stars. Tables dressed in airy white table linens dotted the gardens, topped with bright wildflower bouquets, potted succulents and vintage books, all of which Kathline arranged herself. Intimate lounges overflowing with colorful throw pillows and brightly lit lanterns and candelabras provided, warm, ambient spots for guests to kick back and relax, while achieving the laid-back feel the couple was after.
The couple thought carefully about their guests’ experience from start to finish and incorporated thoughtful touches throughout the evening to ensure their comfort and delight. Instead of favors, they treated everyone to a hot dog cart later in the evening to keep the good times going and stocked the restrooms with amenities like first aid supplies, deodorant wipes, lotions, sewing kits and more.
