An Ultra-Chic Classic Wedding at Mint Museum Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina

This wedding couldn’t have been more timeless. “I wanted our wedding to be one that we would still think was perfect in 50 years," Lynn Lovejoy (28 and a family law and civil litigation lawyer) says of her wedding with Matt Krueger-Andes (32 and a tax and business litigation lawyer). Using a black-and-white palette with touches of blush and gold, Lynn and Matt's wedding was the perfect mix of sophisticated, chic and classic. Lynn and Matt did most of the planning themselves, with the help of Lynn’s fabulous mother, but they also enlisted the help of Kat from Best Day Ever Studios. “She turned out to be even more than just a day-of coordinator,” Lynn says. “We met several times during the engagement and talked through things that needed to get done, just to make sure I was on the right track.” Not wanting a traditional Southern wedding, Lynn and Matt chose Mint Museum Uptown in Lynn’s hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, for a modern twist on their otherwise classic soiree. One of our favorite details was the gold-painted fondant wedding cake from Wow Factor Cakes. It was decorated with a single sugar peony for a simple, but stunning look that totally matched the day's look and feel. Though we love everything about this stunning wedding! “I can honestly say without hesitation that I feel incredibly honored to have worked with every single vendor we used,” Lynn says. “If you copied my vendor list completely, you would be absolutely thrilled with your wedding. They are all supremely talented and extraordinarily professional. I never had any concerns about whether we would have any mishaps, because I knew every detail was cared for.” See all our favorite details, beautifully captured by Corbin Gurkin Photography, below.

Lynn and Matt wanted a simple, classic design for the invitations to set the tone for the day. They loved the simple ivory paper with gold foil letterpress from Wedding Paper Divas. The simple aesthetic was perfect for their artistic, modern soiree.
Lynn carried a perfectly round bouquet of white peonies for her modern wedding. “I love the way peonies smell and how they look,” she says. “I knew I wanted these for my bouquet.”
The bridesmaids carried white garden roses accented with smaller blush roses. Lynn really wanted each lady to carry a small, simple bouquet that they wouldn’t hate holding for the entire ceremony, and her florist totally got it.

Lynn purchased pink Kate Spade rnGia bags that said “bridesmaid” on them. Each was filled with a set of Kate Spade crystal earrings and a dog-eared necklace that Lynn specifically picked to represent a meaningful time in their lives as friends.
Lynn’s five bridesmaids all wore the same black floor-length Badgley Mishka gowns from Rent the Runway. Lynn didn’t want her friends to break the bank purchasing dresses and alterations, and loved how affordable and easy Rent the Runway was.
Lynn completed her classic look with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels. “I knew I would rather have a more expensive pair of neutral shoes that I would wear more than once instead of a pair of white or ivory shoes that I would never wear again,” she says. “They ended up being a wonderful investment, and I was so happy with how they paired with my gown.”
Lynn always knew she wanted to get married in Charlotte, North Carolina, since it's her hometown. But wanted something modern and sophisticated, not a traditional Southern wedding. The Mint Museum Uptown was perfect with its mostly white space and stunning views of uptown. When she went to visit the space, she was intrigued by the covered balcony on the first floor and decided to use it for the ceremony.
“I wore my grandmother’s sapphire and diamond ring that she had given me as my something blue,” Lynn says. “She couldn’t be with us on our big day, since she passed in 2011, but the last time I saw her I told her it would be my something blue, and she got a bit teary and it was an emotional, lovely moment between us. It was a wonderful way for her to be with us on our big day.”

Inspired by pre-princess Grace Kelly, Lynn wanted her look to be super-classic and timeless. She found her dream dress on Pinterest, hunted down who the designer was and looked up where she sold dresses in the United States. Lynn found a boutique in Virginia, called them and arranged for them to order a sample Cocoe Voci dress for her to try on. She and her mother road-tripped to the store, and the moment Lynn tried on the one-shoulder sheath dress, she knew that was it. She walked out of the store that day with her entire outfit!
Gold Calligraphy 'No Place I'd Rather Be' Globe
Lynn ordered adorable black bow tie escort cards for the wedding, and had their calligrapher use white ink to write each guest name onto the fronts and backs. “They turned out phenomenal and we received so many compliments on them,” she says. “Some guests still have them.”

Wanting a classic hairstyle to match her classic look, Lynn wore her hair in a French twist. “Lindsey Reagan Thorne knew exactly what I wanted and made my dreams come true,” Lynn says. “She gave me an updated version of the classic French twist, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

“I had a very special dance with my ring bearer,” Lynn says. “His favorite movie—along with every other 4-year-old—is Frozen. I knew he would be jet-lagged from flying from Belgium two days prior, and maybe self-conscious about dancing with me in front of a crowd, so I wanted him to be as comfortable as possible. We danced to ‘Love Is an Open Door’ from the 'Frozen' soundtrack, and he sang and danced the whole time. Afterward, he was so comfortable that he became the star of the dance floor for the rest of the night. The next day, he told his mom he wanted to go back to the wedding."
Lynn and Matt’s cake was three tiers and covered in beautiful gold-painted fondant. It was accented with pink and white sugar peonies for plenty of added romance. Inside the cake was vanilla with raspberry jam and chocolate ganache between layers. “I had these same flavors in my bridal shower cake —also made by Wow Factor—and loved the cake so much, as did my girls, so I requested the same flavors for our wedding day,” Lynn says.
