An Understated Fall Wedding at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina

Caitlin Parker (27 and a pharmacist) and Kyle Shannon (29 and an attorney) grew up in the same town but didn't get to know each other until they both attended the University of South Carolina. With strong encouragement from friends, they went on their first date after graduation and began their two-year long distance relationship. "We decided to build a home in New Braunfels, Texas while I still lived in South Carolina," says Caitlin. "On one of the trips I made to visit Kyle and check out our new house, he packed a picnic and a bottle of wine to take to our home that was still under construction. Kyle proposed while we were watching the sun set from our back porch, and it was absolutely perfect because it marked a new stage of our lives together in so many ways!" With the help of their mothers, Caitlin and Kyle began planning their fall celebration at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina. The newlyweds exchanged vows at St. Mary Help of Christians Church, where Caitlin was a member of the parish and attended the school. Kyle's great uncle officiated the wedding ceremony and also officiated Kyle's parent's wedding in 1982. "St. Mary’s has been a big part of my life since I was a child because and my parents were also married there," says Caitlin. After the afternoon ceremony, guests were invited to a tented reception at Palmetto Golf Club, where they were treated to John Daly and Bourbon Highball signature cocktails. Caitlin planned the elegant outdoor affair with a vintage feel but didn't work around a specific theme. Textured floral arrangements and soft linens carried the dusty purple and pale pink color scheme throughout the day. "My advice for brides in the Aiken area would be to take the easy way out and book all my vendors!" says Caitlin.
