Everything from black-and-white zigzag furniture to geometric wood patterns on the walls of SmogShoppe in Los Angeles, California, helped shape this retro-chic, urban wedding. Jana Schaefer (27 and an interior designer) and Eric Schaefer (27 and a lawyer) chose their venue partly because it was a convenient location for their friends and family. But they fell in love with the urban space filled with lush dessert plants and antique furnishings, captured by Laura Ford Photographer. The retro theme was inspired by Jana and Eric's love for vintage objects—from old books to historic alarm clocks and even classic cars—which added character to the indoor-outdoor space, thanks to the help of Events by Brittany Blain. The retro palette of yellow, blue and orange was embodied within wedding party attire: The bridesmaids wore knee-length blue dresses with cap sleeves, while the groomsmen wore multicolored checkered ties. The ceremony took place outside in the vertical gardens, where Jana and Eric joined hands in front of a tall, overgrown succulent wall that served as a lush backdrop. Jana complemented the desert plants by having succulents incorporated into her bouquet, mixed with garden roses, hypericum berries and dusty miller, arranged by Clementine Floral Works. The dining tables inside the banquet hall were set with square wooden plates and geometric-patterned napkins accented with kraft paper detail. Our eyes drifted toward the white seating chart with a clock painted on the front, which read "Time to Take a Seat" and captured the wedding's retro vibe. "Our guests followed the string from their name to the hour mark on the clock and went to that table to find their seat," Jana says. "I'm happy to say, to the best of my knowledge, this was totally an original Jana-Eric design."

Invitations were printed on white stationery accented with turquoise and orange detail, and had a Polaroid camera design with photos inside, all designed by Jana.
"I wore a beautiful long white wedding dress with 1920s golden age accents throughout the length of the dress," Jana says. "The art deco accents were especially prominent in the intricately patterned train, which was removable for dancing."
At the wedding ceremony, guests were given programs on white stationery accented with blue and orange detail, which resembled the invitation design. A black mustache design was on the other side of the program to be used for pictures.

Jana held a bouquet filled with succulents, garden roses, thistles, hypericum berries and dusty miller mixed in with a variety of smaller blooms and greenery.
"The bridesmaids wore beautiful turquoise pencil dresses and carried succulent bouquets that highlighted the wedding day colors, blending seamlessly with the venue," Jana says. "The groomsmen wore charcoal suits, white shirts and plaid ties that accented the wedding colors. All the men wore succulent boutonnieres, which highlighted the wedding day colors and matched the bridesmaid bouquets."
Inside the banquet hall, wooden dining tables and chairs were set up for guests to be seated at during the reception at SmogShoppe in Los Angeles, California. The geometric-patterned walls contributed to the overall retro look of the wedding day.
Dining tables were set with square wooden plates, which had brown and white geometric napkin holders wrapped with kraft paper on top. Blue napkins were folded inside the sleeve, and a colorful ticket was pinned on top.
The seating chart was displayed on a white wooden board with a clock design that said "Time to Take a Seat." Guest names were listed on the left and right of the clock, and pieces of yarn pointed to the table number they were assigned to.
