Jesse Bunton (32, special education teacher) met Lucius Desha Bunton V (31) through two great friends and dated when they were both in their mid-twenties. They decided to part ways and went on living their lives apart, though kept in touch occasionally (purposely) ran into each other. Several years later, Jesse and Desha found each other again and ended up realizing that their ‘fling’ was more of a love story. Desha proposed on the eve of Valentine’s Day, and the wedding planning began. The couple decided to host their big day at the historic and luxurious Gage Hotel in the charming, desert town of Marathon, Texas. "Our families hold West Texas close to their hearts—my family because it's their favorite place to escape, and Desha's because his parents are from there. It just made sense for us, and I can't imagine our wedding taking place anywhere else." Their casual, romantic day began with the ceremony on the beautiful lawn at Captain Shepard House under the big Texas sky. After the happy couple exchanged their “I do’s,” their guests headed down the way to the courtyard where they enjoyed blue grass music and appetizers prepared by the 12 Gage Restaurant. Jesse and Desha chose a muted color palette of whites, greens and soft pinks to compliment the natural beauty of the West Texas desert landscape. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing the night away under the twinkling lights and the starry night sky!

Mismatched Blush Bridesmaid Dresses and Nude Heels
Jesse went to Blush Bridal in Austin, Texas, and found the perfect dress right away. She chose a sleeveless gown with lace across the illusion neckline, soft layers of tulle and a small beaded belt.
"We kept the stationery simple, yet refined," says Jesse. The ceremony programs were printed on brown paper and tied with hemp.
Romantic, Casual Wedding Ceremony at Gage Hotel
Jesse wore a mid-length tulle veil that matched her white gown with small diamond earrings made from Desha's grandmother's diamonds.
The bridesmaids chose their own unique blush dresses and the groomsmen wore casual navy suits. The ring bearers wore suspenders and boots, and the flower girls had sweet ivory dresses with fresh flower crowns.

Romantic West Texas Desert Couple's Shot
Jesse and Desha liked the idea of the groomsmen wearing navy because it felt more casual than black. "It also looked really sharp with a great pair of cowboy boots—my wedding gift to him," says Jesse.
The Gage Hotel baked Jesse and Desha's classic triple-tier white wedding cake. The couple chose to surround the tiers in greenery for a natural, earthy look.
Natural White, Green Texas Reception Flowers
Jesse wanted a vintage feel with soft colors. She collected vintage silver for the tables, used an old 15-pane door to display table numbers and worked with the florist to create centerpieces that embodied the romance of West Texas.

Cocktail Hour at West Texas Gage Hotel
Jesse and Desha danced to the folk and blues acoustic tunes of the Warren Hood and the Hoodlums band. "My dad is a great blue harmonica player, so he got up with the band and played a few songs!" says Jesse.
