Classic Ballroom Wedding at Hilton President Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri

The first time Leslie Rhoton (28 and works in nonprofit development) met Daniel Staren (28 and a lawyer), it was like a movie scene. Just after lamenting to a friend over dinner about how hard it was to find a good guy in Chicago, Leslie noticed Daniel and his brother walking their parents' very nervous fluffy white dog on Michigan Avenue. "She was going nuts because of the horse-drawn carriages," Leslie says. Next, in what she would later describe as "the best move she ever made," Leslie approached the "cute" brothers to ask if the dog was OK. They talked for 10 minutes, and then Daniel admitted to her that he would "kick himself if he didn't get her number." As they say, the rest is history! A self-described "old-fashioned couple," Leslie and Daniel fell in love with the classic elegance of the Hilton President Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. The romantic gold detailing of the Congress Ballroom inspired a palette of creams, blush pinks and golds for Leslie and Daniel's traditional spring wedding day. "We wanted to find colors that would be elegant yet spring inspired for our mid-May wedding," Leslie says. "The blush pink and creams seemed like a natural choice to pop against the gold." The old-fashioned couple infused classic details throughout the day—from a Rolls-Royce to their first dance, to "The Way You Look Tonight" by Harry Connick Jr. —Meghan Overdeep
