It's a New York City tale as old as time: Texan Kerry McGrath (29, attorney) meets charming Brooklynite Ilya Kharkover (29, attorney) and falls in love. After a quintessential New York City love affair, the stylish couple chose to celebrate their wedding at their favorite Manhattan restaurant, New Leaf Restaurant in Fort Tryon Park. The city skyline served as a fitting backdrop for their sentimental day full of charming DIY details and high fashion.

"A high school friend, Jackie Grace Jones, designed our wedding invitations and all the calligraphy for the wedding," says Kerry. "She designed a beautiful monogram with our initials that my best friend made into a stamp, so I was able to add a "ki" to just about everything!"
"It was a dream!" Kerry says of her frothy, strapless ball gown by the one-and-only Oscar de la Renta.
Kerry carried a feminine bridal bouquet of peach and ivory garden roses.

Ilya and Kerry had always loved Fort Tyron Park, which is close to their home in nearby Washington Heights.
Kerry and Ilya Ceremony Vows
"We were excited to show local and out of town wedding guests a part of New York most have never visited," says Kerry. "The theme for our October wedding became, 'Come fall in love with our NY.'"
"We had a fun journey figuring out how a Russian Jewish boy raised in Brooklyn could match up with an Irish Catholic girl raised in Texas," says Kerry. "We found neutral ground in NYC and one Christmas while on vacation with my family, Ilya proposed!"
Lace Runner and Seasonal Rose Centerpiece
Kerry and Ilya included hand-written notes to each guest with their place cards. "Many friends and family helped us to get there and we wanted to make sure they knew we appreciated it!" says Kerry.
"We love New Leaf restaurant in Fort Tryon Park. Before we were engaged, we were having brunch at New Leaf and Ilya said to me, 'this would be a great place to get married,'" recalls Kerry. "Years later when we got engaged, it was the first venue we visited."
