Coastal Chic Decor Set Apart This Celebration at The Covered Bridge Inn in Lewes, Delaware

With summers spent along the Delaware shore, Elizabeth Carson (30 and a management consultant) and Alex Kragie (34 and the director of the American Green Bank Consortium) knew they wanted to tie the knot by the sea. “We both love the beach effect,” the couple says. “Everyone always ends up letting their hair down and having a good time.” The duo captured the laidback coastal atmosphere by sending ocean blue invitations with a custom map of the beach, hanging sand dollar and starfish escort cards, assembling pampas grass in sea glass urns and feasting on surf and turf for dinner.
As for the day's fashion, the bride paired a simple white gown with her mother’s diamond earrings and the same blue handkerchief her mother wore on her wedding day. The groom accessorized with bear socks to honor the nickname he calls his bride. When it came to decor, wood cross back chairs, white linens and string lights accentuated the venue’s rustic charm. Tulips, roses, snapdragons, ranunculus and sweet peas in bright shades of apricot, blush, peach, buttercup and white evoked a casual-yet-elegant vibe. As for other special moments? For dessert, the couple served traditional vanilla cake and Alex’s favorite flavor of red velvet cake, and they topped the sweet treat with nautical accents. The pair played “Love Your Love Most” by Eric Church for their first dance. “A lot of our early relationship was spent in the car with Alex playing Eric Church, trying to convince Elizabeth to like it,” the couple says. “It worked in the end!”
