It evokes visions of When Harry Met Sally. Colby and Roger first met as college students; she started dating one of Roger's friends. Fast forward a few years. Colby and Roger are both single and are re-introduced through the ex-beau who is still Roger's pal. This is where many people think one would conclude with happily ever after but no, says Colby. We call it quits nine months later after a huge fight. Luckily, destiny would not keep them apart for too long. The Bride Colby J. Dunford, 30, graphic designer The Groom Roger T. Su, 32, electrical engineer The Date August 21 Roger chose to propose on Valentine's Day, Colby’s favorite holiday, over dinner at a Japanese restaurant.

Two celebrations, two favors! In the morning, Colby and Roger gave guests orange-lidded boxes tied with hot pink ribbon and filled with Swedish wedding cookies. Three brass I-ching coins -- touted in Chinese culture to bring the recipient good fortune when tied to a purse or kept in a pocket book -- were on hand for the reception.
The Reception
The table centerpieces for the evening reception followed the Chinese theme: bud vases were filled with bright red, orange, and lime green orchids and bamboo shoots, and set inside chocolate brown stoneware bowls filled with water, large white orchid blossoms, and a floating candle.
Colby and Roger said I do in a grassy area to the side of a pavilion walkway that sat at one end of a small lake. Because it was August and sunny, and to set the feel of a garden tea party, we offered each female guest a white paper parasol tied with a ribbon in our theme colors, says Colby. Before the couple read vows they had written for each other, Colby’s younger sister sang Pie Jesu from Requiem. After the ceremony the guests were encouraged to explore the gardens, while the wedding party sat for pictures. A map was printed in the back of the wedding program to help guest find their way around the grounds.
Colby's two bridesmaids also got into the two-dress spirit. One wore a red chiffon Ann Taylor evening dress and an After Six taffeta gown in dark plum. The other donned a Waters and Waters dress in purple and orange taffeta, then switched to an After Six strapless two-piece made of black and silver taffeta.
Keeping with their simple yet chic style, Colby and Roger's wedding cake was a square three-tier lemon delight with cream cheese frosting, decorated with a cascade of lime green orchids.
