Julie Paice (31, HR professional) and Ricky Savoy (32, restaurant manager) aren't completely certain how they met. After all, it was more than 12 years ago! "We always laugh when people ask us where we met. We wish we had a more exciting story, but we think we met through mutual friends," says Julie. "We actually started dating by accident. We had a big dinner planned with a group of friends, and one by one everybody cancelled, except for us. We decided to go anyways just as 'friends', but it really ended up being our first date." After more than 10 years together, Ricky surprised her by pulling out an engagement ring in the middle of Wollman Rink in Central Park. "Then we skated a victory lap while fellow skaters cheered and congratulated us," recalls Julie. Continuing their history of winter romance, they decided on a New Years Eve bash for their long-awaited nuptials. Julie and Ricky chose a festive color palette of gold, champagne and ivory to warm up the winter night, which ended with a surprise confetti cannon—obviously!

"The room was filled with candles—in each of the windows, on every table, anywhere we could put one!" says Julie.
Glass cylinder vases filled with submerged white dendrobium orchids topped a portion of the reception tables.
The reception tables were named after romantic movies Julie and Ricky like to watch together.
DVD cases (from movies Julie and Ricky love) in gold frames served as unique table numbers.

Not only was Julie and Ricky's dating anniversary in the winter, but they had a wintertime engagement as well. "We feel a special connection to the coziness and warmth of winter," says Julie. "Plus we had been together for more than 10 years, so we felt that our wedding should be a huge celebration, and NYE would do the trick!"
The cupcake tower was topped with a small, red velvet cake for the cutting ceremony.
Julie and Ricky both have a sweet tooth, which inspired their candy bar favors.

"Our balloon drop actually fell at 10:30pm instead of midnight," Julie recalls. "But we tossed the balloons around, and used the back up mini confetti cannons to capture a special moment at midnight!"
