An Indian Lakeside Wedding at Villa Del Lago in Austin, Texas

Eight years after Punita Dave (28 and an assistant buyer at Bergdorf Goodman) and Aamer Patel (31 and a managing partner at a consulting firm) met as undergraduates at University of Texas, the pair returned to Austin to say “I do” at Villa Del Lago on Lake Travis. “It was a no-brainer decision once we had our site visit,” Punita says. “It doesn’t even feel like you’re in Texas.” She also took a fresh approach to the attire. “Indian bridal outfits can be over the top,” Punita says. “I wanted a simple, classic aesthetic, but in a traditional red and white hue.” Muted florals and plenty of candlelight played up the venue’s existing beauty, resulting in an open-air reception that evoked the feel of an ethereal garden party. Once dinner was underway, all 160 guests dined at a single table situated under a trellis woven with ivy and greens. Chocolate cupcakes decorated with the city’s iconic “I love you so much” illustration were a natural choice for dessert. While the newlyweds opted out of a traditional first dance, they instead hired a violinist to play hip-hop, top 40 and Indian music in tandem with a DJ.
