When Marlon Jones first noticed Mareesa Frederick at a New Year’s Eve party, she was having such a great time with her friends that Marlon decided it wasn’t the right time to approach her. Luckily, their paths crossed again a week later at a networking party, and this time it was Mareesa who noticed Marlon. A mutual friend introduced the two, and they clicked instantly. He never does that.” The couple went to a restaurant on the Potomac River and sat outside, soaking up the moonlit ambience; or, at least, Mareesa was. “Because I knew it was my engagement night, I thought I should splurge and order lobster,” she remembers. Marlon, on the other hand, was extremely nervous. Finally, he managed to pull out the ring box and ask her to marry him. “Of course I said yes!” Mareesa says.
